FOOTBALL: Clanfield crash to basement boys

From the Witney Gazette, first published Tuesday 18th Dec 2007.

Sport Italia Hellenic League

Clanfield produced their worst performance of the season as they crashed 3-2 to bottom-of-the-table Cirencester in Division 1 West.

The home side took the lead on 12 minutes when Rich Horner scored from close range after a fumble by 17-year-old keeper Shaun Locke.

It was soon 2-0 when, with the Clanfield defence all at sea, Ajay Sahota scored with a tap-in.

After the break, McKeon reduced the arrears, heading home after Eddie Everett's effort rebounded off the bar.

And eight minutes later, Clanfield equalised when Tim Jenkins's cross was headed home by Dean Barker.

But Cirencester grabbed their first win of the season eight minutes from time, Jason Edwards's header sealing the points.
