An unbroken sixth-wicket stand of 86 between Steve Partington and Andrew Wingfield Digby helped Oxfordshire to a thrilling five-wicket victory over Worcestershire in their ECB 50+ clash at Cumnor yesterday.
The victory came a day after Oxfordshire's resounding 129-run win against Herefordshire at Eastnor, and should be enough to see them qualify for the quarter-finals.
Winning the toss, Oxfordshire put their visitors in to bat and restricted them to 205-8 from their 45 overs.
Middleton batted superbly for the visitors, finishing unbeaten on 81, but fine figures of 4-44 from Rob Wills helped Oxfordshire keep a tight rein on the Worcestershire batsmen.
In reply, Oxfordshire struggled to 120-5 and looked out of contention.
But Partington and Wingfield Digby had other ideas as they wrestled back the initiative.
Partington's 40 came off 40 balls, and with Wingfield Digby also batting fluently, Oxfordshire got home with 13 balls to spare.
