DARTS: Lowly Quarry tame Red Lion

Chris Pollard scored a maximum 180 for strugglers Quarry Gate as they turned the formbook upside down with a shock 5-4 win against high-flying Red Lion in Section 3 of the Greene King ODDA.

And they did it the hard way after battling back from 3-2 down to beat the second-placed side.

Keith Abrey gave Red Lion the perfect start with victory against Steve Pollard, but Chris Pollard's maximum and Gary Roberts's success gave Quarry the lead.

Lion then roared back to take a 3-2 lead. However, Quarry were not to be denied, with Stuart Carter levelling after beating Mick O'Leary. Then a 2-1win in the pairs completed a surprise victory.

The result saw Masons Arms A extend their lead at the top with a 7-2 triumph against visitors North Star.

Kidlington Green Social Club moved into second place after a convincing 7-2 win at George Bar A.

Section 6 leaders, Black Horse suffered a shock 7-2 home defeat against Railway Social Club B.

Second-placed George Inn suffered their first defeat of the season as they crashed to a 5-4 reverse against Somerset House.
