Flood alert eases in county

From the Witney Gazette, first published Saturday 7th Jul 2007.

ONLY two rivers in Oxfordshire remained on Flood Watch tonight.

The Environment Agency has kept the Flood Watch alert in place on the River Cherwell and on the Thame.

Earlier in the week five rivers - the Cherwell, Evenlode, Thame, Ray and Windrush - and their catchment areas were on alert.

But the drop in rainfall yesterday and today has eased the situation.

Tonight the remaining Flood Watch alerts were in place on the River Cherwell catchment from Charwelton, near Banbury, to Oxford and its tributaries, including the Sor and Bloxham Brooks and the River Thame from Long Marston to Dorchester, the Bear Brook, the Chalgrove Brook and their tributaries.
